Flash's Fund
LOOK WHAT'S NEW! Included here is a letter by our new friends, the Halls.
Their situation has inspired our new fund - "Flash's Fund" as you'll see below.
Dear Leanne and CC Volunteers:
Our cat, "Flash" came home early Saturday morning with an extremely damaged
right rear leg. We called a local vet and were told we needed to pay $40 just
for him to be seen. At the appointment, they did what they could, but they weren't
able to go any further [w/treatment] without doing x-rays and those would be
around $184.00. We just didn't have it and their policy of not accepting payments
put us in a tough spot. We left just not knowing what to do.
We were telling friends and family of our situation and were given the name of
Covenant Creatures; an organization that helps anyone [in financial need] with
any pet, anyway they can. So we called and were told to bring Flash down to
their Thursday night "Companion Care Center" where he would be assessed by a
veterinarian at no cost. As it turned out, Flash's injuries were so severe that
he had to have his right leg & hip removed. The news was devastating; our first
concerns were for Flash, who is family to us. The second was cost...obviously
such an extensive surgery would be beyond what we could do at this time, but
as Leanne from Covenant Creatures was explaining to my wife and I about what
needed to be done, she assured us that the total bill would be absorbed by them.
It seemed that everyone's first concerns at Covenant Creatures were for our pet too.
Chuck, Dawn & "Flash" Hall
P.S. -- One week after the initial injury which was sustained in a fight w/a racoon,
"Flash" had his hip & leg amputated at a local vet clinic. This one year old healthy
boy is now recovering quickly and adjusting to a life on 3 legs! The cost for this
emergency service ran about $600. As with most of us, we don't necessarily have a
wad of currency in our pocket, even when it's seriously needed. Therefore, we have
two requests: First - if you are a pet owner, please consider purchasing pet
insurance [most vet offices provide information] as the rising costs of emergency
services such as this can shock & deter most pet owners and then secondly, please
consider donating to - "Flash's Fund". These monies will specifically be targeted
for emergency surgeries & procedures including hospitalizations of pet's who have a
high potential of recovery & long life.
